Band Bio

Formed in 1994, Midnight Blues Band has become a staple in Southern California’s Blues scene. By sharing stages with such names as B.B. King, Guitar Shorty, Tommy Castro, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Eric Sardinas, Robben Ford, Rod Piazza, Rick Derringer, and Roy Rogers (to name a few), the band is well versed on what it takes to please a crowd. Midnight Blues Band has also been named “The Official Band of the Irvine Lake Blues Festival”- performing there 6 years of it’s 8 year history.

Comprised of 5 talented and experienced musicians, the band exhibits levels of professionalism and musicianship that makes it easy to become a dedicated fan. It’s plain to see right away that these guys really like each other- and love the music they make together. Not surprisingly, their loyal fan base continues to grow every month as a result.

Danny Brown - Lead Vocals

Born in Tyler, Texas, Danny Brown is one of the founding members of Midnight Blues Band. No stranger to the stage, Danny has been seen on Showtime, and done theater in Los Angeles as well- having appeared in “Sweet Water Blues” and “Satch’s Place”.

2005 and 2006 saw Danny nominated for Best Male Blues Artist at The Los Angeles Black Music Awards. His persona, charisma, and deeply felt renditions of the material make Danny Brown the type of performer that truly commands attention.

Dan Manser - Bass

Co-founder Dan Manser not only provides the band with a tight, solid bottom line on his left handed bass, he also watches out for the band’s financial bottom line- handling the majority of the band’s business.

His 35 plus years of performing throughout Southern California, coupled with his 30 years of being self-employed business owner has made Dan one of our area’s most respected musicians.

He brings a solid, tight energy to the band, yet easy going, it’s easy to see why he’s the band’s “go to guy”.

Bruce White - Guitar

At 6’ 6” tall, Bruce White gets noticed without plugging his guitar in; but once he does, his mastery of the guitar, along with the intensity of his delivery, and his showmanship combine with his stature to create a force to be reckoned with.

With over twenty years of experience, Bruce joined the band in 2002. As well as adding incredible lead guitar, he also adds a multitude of textures by way of a fabulous collection of instruments and his creativity.

Paul Cummins - Guitar

Joining the band in April of 2004, Paul brings with him a lifetime of experience. Formally trained through college on woodwinds, he had already recorded at Capitol Records and appeared in a movie before switching his focus to guitar in 1975.

One of the four Finalists of the 1997 Fender Blues Guitar Competition invited to the 1st Annual Fender Blues Festival out on Catalina Island, Paul has made a number of local T.V. appearances; and was called upon to join a national tour as Chuck Berry’s sideman.

His motto has been adopted by the band: “Play it like you mean it, or just leave it in the case.”

Rick Adams - Drums

Rick Adams is what all bands want in a drummer. Besides the obvious (talent), Rick is a bottomless well of energy who’s dedicated to his craft and to the band.

Playing since his youth, Rick’s understanding of tempo, meter, dynamics, as well as the appropriate volume are a major reason why the band can excite a crowd, but without seemingly feeling the need to deafen them in order to do so.
